Designing for a better future
The design concept was prepared with regard to the site output when considering the housing mix and the mixed-use development brief prepared by Apex and The Executive Office.
The proposal has evolved as a result of site analysis and assessment of the planning and design context. The proposed development responds to the site location and context, its characteristics, attributes and constraints; and complies with relevant policy and design guidance.
Built upon these key requirements, the design itself makes use of a vibrant palette of materials, from building materials to high-quality landscaping, including paving and street furniture. Feature gates and canopy will be developed to create a semi-enclosed public realm space for use as event space all year round. The vitality of the scheme will reflect the beating heart of the Bogside as a beacon in its own right, when viewed from the Derry City Walls.
